Unions Confident They Can Fill Industry’s Need for Skilled Trades

It’s a busy construction season in Sarnia-Lambton, and it may get busier, but building industry representatives say the community has the tools it needs to meet the demand for skilled workers.

Sarnia-Lambton is home to more than 5,000 journeymen and apprentices, plus there is a network in place so unions can call in workers from other parts of Ontario and Canada when needed, said John Swart, president of the Sarnia-Lambton Building and Construction Trades Council.

“I’m confident we can meet any challenges industry puts forward to us,” he said. read more >>
