‘Construction Sites Charter’ Would Protect Citizens, Montreal Opposition Says

With more than 700 construction projects planned for Montreal in 2018, the official opposition at city hall is calling on the city to create a “construction sites charter” that would clearly outline the rights of citizens and small businesses affected.

For each site, a public listing would be posted showing how long the work is expected to last; measures that should be in place to ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety and universal accessibility; measures to reduce irritants like noise, dust and dirt; and efforts made to reduce the economic impact on local businesses.
